Four rope clamshell grab bucket is a kind of lifting equipment with excellent performance, which consists of bucket body, upper bearing beam, lower bearing beam, spreader bar and balance frame. Double flap means that there are two mutually symmetrical bucket bodies. Four-rope means that the work of the grab is controlled by four wire ropes, two of which are hung on the rope guide device (balance frame) on the upper bearing beam and are called support ropes; and the other two are connected with the wire ropes wrapped around the grab pulley block and are called closure ropes.

Applications:
Four rope clamshell grab bucket is mainly used in conjunction with harbor cranes, deck cranes, ship unloaders and other cranes with two sets of hoisting reels, and is used to grab various bulk cargoes with uniform granularity for loading, unloading and transferring piles of material and other operations, such as grains, coals, cements, sulphur, mineral powders, ore, etc. It is widely used in the fields of harbor, iron and steel plants, power stations and ships.

Difference between single-rope grabs, double-rope grabs and four-rope grabs:
Single rope grabs are often used on cranes with hooks;
Double rope grabs need to be equipped with customized double reels on cranes;
Four-rope grabs have an additional set of closing ropes and support ropes compared to double-rope grabs, which can make the structure of the grab more stable and less prone to spinning.
Working Principle:
The crane's two sets of reels release four wire ropes, two of which are connected to the balance frame of the grab's upper bearing beam (called as support ropes), and the other two are connected to the two wire ropes wrapped around the grab's pulley block (called as opening and closing ropes).
1. Grab down: the support rope lifts the grab to the appropriate position, and then drop the opening and closing ropes, the grab relies on the self-weight of the lower crossbeam, so that the bucket part of the lower crossbeam axis as the center of the bucket will be opened, when the bucket is opened to the two lugs of the plate and the collision block, that is, the bucket is opened to the maximum limit.
2. Grab grabbing material: after the grab is opened, the crane moves the grab to the top of the material to be grabbed, and then drops the support rope and the opening and closing ropes at the same time, so that the grab falls on the material. Then, the reel collects the opening and closing ropes, so that the bucket body of the grapple closes and grabs the material.
3. Grab rising: after grabbing the material, the reel lifts the support rope and opening/closing rope at the same time, and lifts the grab.
4. Grab unloading: after the grab is lifted to the unloading position, the reel drops the opening and closing ropes, so that the grab's bucket is opened and the material is unloaded.
